WALT research about the origins of Christmas

Today we got given a tasks to research about the origins of Christmas. It was a tasks that I did with my partner (Petra) and the tasks got me going. On the last slide, it shows what you don't know about Christmas and on the other slides, it tell you everything about what you need to know. We had chosen 5 songs to do for this tasks and it was Christmas carols.

ThankYou Card !!!

Today, I got given a tasks to do which was making a Thank You card to the teacher I was with last week and who stood out to me the most. The teacher that stood out to me last week was one of our school teacher's Miss Morrison. She wasn't the only that stood out but the best teacher last week was Miss Ashley. They both had did a lot of fun things they did in their groups and some of the days, I was with them. The letter says it all but Miss Ashley you were the best as well.

Bloom's Taxonomy

WALT use Bloom's Taxonomy to critically summarize a current event

Today, the people that didn't go camp had to do a current events tasks. It is a tasks that you have to find a story to read about and answer the questions given to you on each slide. I did a story called (Coming Second Place) and the story was all about how the NZ woman seven's came second place. They had got beaten by Australia and they feel guttered because they thought they put down NZ. This story is really interesting to read and you should read it.

My EOTC Reflection

WALT reflect on EOTC

Today we had got given a tasks to do. It was all about talking about what we did all week. The things we had did all week were:

Those are the things we had did all week and it was a really fun week while the year 7-8 had went to camp. On this google drawing, it has questions and we had to answer them but for each verse, we had to do 50 words and the last verse we had to use 75 words and I managed to complete that.

Camp Raglan Movie !!

Past the few days, the student leaders and me have created a movie to show our parents for the Camp Raglan 2016. We had taken lots and lots of photos and videos but later on I will be showing the video we had created. It tells you What Participation and Contribution means to you ? and What Relating to others mean ? In this video it tells you everything about Camp Raglan and what the key competencies mean to you and the other people.

Cultural Poem

WALT write a cultural poem

This is my Maori Poem that I have created with no help. It was a tasks that we got given because it was all about our school inquiry topic (Celebrations).

Here is my Cultural Poem:

The Maori flag sits high in the sky, waving around and saying hi,

Our Maori flag flies higher than the rest, but everyone know’s Maori’s are the best,

My maori race, I will not disgrace

Because we are here to win this place,

The maori clothes is what we wear, to show that we all have no fear,

I sit here as a Maori with happiness and pride, but there is usually nothing to hide,

A waiata and haka is what we sing, to know that we aren’t always the bling,

But taste our food because it will change your mood,

My Maori pride is my mind, but my Maori blood is my kind,

Howick Movie Theatre

WALT to reflect on what we did

Today, Some of the year 4-8 students had went to the Howick Movies to watch The Secret Life Of Pets. It was a really good movie to watch because so of the parts had made me and my pairs laugh. The highlight of the movie for me was when the Snowball (The Rabbit) and Max (The Dog) had worked together to save Duke (The big dog) life. It was a really interesting movie to watch because of the parts showed the same actions as my real dog.

School Fun ! EOTC Week

WALT reflect on what we did today

Yesterday on the 23rd of November 2016, We had a school fun for our EOTC week. So far we have did Bowling-Lazer Strike, Minigolf, School Fun and Movies. It was a really exhausting and fun day yesterday because we had slip and slide, and team building activities. We got put into 4 groups with each adult and we had four rotations.

The rotations were:

• Hand Painting
• Paper Christmas Tree's
• Christmas Star
• Face Painting

Some of the things we did were quiet difficult especially the Christmas star which was with Miss Morrison. After lunch time we had heaps of fun doing High Jump, Obstacle Courses and Water activities but my highlight was wetting the teachers. The teachers found it fun aswell but so did the students.

Lilliput Mini Golf

WALT reflect on what we did at Mini Golf

Today on the 22nd of November 2016, we went to Mini Golf for the 4-8 EOTC. Some people had fun doing the Mini Golf and so did I. First of all, we entered our school building and waited in one classroom (Room 6). Then we departed TPS to go to Mini Golf. It was at a well known area which was (Orakei) but if you don't know where Mini Golf is, it is next to Parnell Pools. We got put into groups and off we went to play Mini Golf. 

My group members that were participating with me was:

• Sosaia
• Timote
• Faka'ata
• Kensington
• Coralee

I enjoyed the playing Mini Golf with the people I was with because they were really good at playing and they were making me laugh to much. Thanks to Kensington and Faka'ata mum because she had bought me and my group members a Trumpet and Popsicle each. She was really generous to even buy us food and use her money for us.

The best words that I can suits my feelings at Mini Golf are:

EOTC Week !!

WALT reflect on what we did so far at EOTC

Today 21 November, Some of the year 4-5-6-7-8 went to EOTC which stands for Education Outside The Classroom. All we did was go to Tenpin Bowling and Lazer Strike. We got put into groups of 6 because of the bowling space but we were group 12. It was a really fun day outside the classroom and I can't wait until tomorrow because we are doing mini golf.

Food and Treats

Today in this block, we had got given a book to read with a buddy in Room 6. The book we got given was Food and Treats and the book was full of heaps of ideas but here is the things we had read about in the book.

• Hundreds And Thousands
• Whipped Cream
• Dessert Jelly
• Soft Drinks
• And Chocolate & Chip Cookies

The thing that was mostly important in the book was How hundreds and thousands were made, How dessert jelly goes wobbly and How you melt the butter to make the cookie chewier. The book was really interesting to read because we found out things we didn't even know but now that we had read the book, we know what the special things are in food and treats. Everyone has a favourite food treat but I wonder what is the science behind making them ??. In the book, a food manufacturer opens doors to reveal some of the secrets behind making these popular and yummy treats. But in this book, you will learn the difference between natural and processed sugar and how you can eat sweet food. From my point of view, don't eat too much sweets because it is not healthy for you.

My buddies point of view : Don't eat too much lollies because it is not good for your teeth

Dart Board

WALT create our own maths dart board

Today me and Daimai have started our maths dart board and we are finishing it off right now. Our dart board has to contain decimals, addition and subtraction. We have to also create our darts but we are going to use pencils as our darts. I will upload another blog post when we are finished doing our dart board.

Kiwi Can

Last Week for Kiwi Can we played a game called noodle soccer for this game we used those noodles you use for swimming to smack the ball into the other teams goal. Our team won because the other team kept on cheating because they were using there foot to blocking the goal so whenever they did that the point went to my team. Also we had to do our activity and that was making up a chant for our class and the boys made up one and it was just like juju on that beat but they changed some of the words I thought that there's was really cool because they did like a cool dance and yeah. We also had to write down on a paper of what responsibility means and then share it with the class.

Food and Treats

WALT: write about what we read about today.

Today for Sustain Silent Reading we had o read a book and I chose Science Of Food Treats. I chose this book because I really like food and I thought that it'll be really interesting learning about food. So when I first read this book it mostly had the science behind jelly,cookies,whipped

cream,hundreds and thousands and soft drinks. It also had methods on how to make these things and I think when I get home today I am going to make these things because I really wanna eat it. I will tell you how to make Hundreds & Thousands. FIrst you have to get the ingredients which is starch and sugar then it goes through a machine which adds powder like icing sugar and then the dry ingredients get put in a machine that coats them in a rotating pan then it sieves them into 8 different machines they then colour all the containers different colours then they are dried in a heat room and there ready to get shipped off. This book was really about Chocolate Chip Cookies, Whipped Cream and Jelly

Vocabulary

This is the vocabulary tasks I worked on with Ajani and Amelia. It was a tasks that you had to research about on every word and you had to add a image relating to it. It was really fun and easy because we had used a site called "Padlet".

Practice Narrative

This is my story that I had did for my practice narrative test. It was a really good session doing it but I really hope you enjoy reading my entertaining story I had created. Here it is

She loves to write stories and make them come alive but this is only the beginning.

She falls asleep and wakes up in the middle of a old and horror looking forest.

Why is she there? How did she get there? Is she dreaming? I ask myself, Well as you can see I am going to introduce you to my character (Diamond).

It was a very long day for Diamond, with all of these jobs she had to do such as doing chores, walking to the supermarket and helping her family out with things but as you know everyone hates doing things like that. Diamond is a young, generous and beautiful girl with really strict parents. They didn’t usually let her do what she wanted but that’s what her life was like. She was really busy, she didn’t get to eat that much of the day but she was really helpful and did what her parents needed. Sometimes her parents pissed her off and she didn’t listen to them but at some point she would just forgive them and help them out. It was the end of the day and after all that she went to eat her dinner and off to her room she started writing stories. She really loved writing stories and she had one of her favourite stories she loved to read and it was called “The Unknown Forest” and it was a true story that had actually happened to her. It is all about a forest that no one had heard or seen before but off she began reading her true story…

Was it a dream? Did it actually happen? And Why choose me? I asked myself. I was sleeping and suddenly I wake up in the middle of a strange and ugly forest. I don’t know why and how I got there but I took my time to take a look around and see if it was real… “It was real” I said to myself but I was wearing my dad’s favourite jumper, the red hoodie and I was wearing a white dress with black shoes and holding a basket. I sped like a cheetah as I am scared to go further but I see two children, (Ricky and Nicole) all alone in the dark, freezing to death and I ask them “Are you alright” then they staunch me out and say with anger and a devil voice, Why are you here? Go home right now. You are not safe here… I was so frightened and I didn’t know what to do so I ran like a bull seeing the colour red. There were four ways to go and I couldn’t choose but my mum said “always stick to the middle” so I took the middle way and it led me to a big and random shed. I had a weird feeling that someone or something was watching me so I turned around and saw was a dragon behind the shed wanting help. The dragon looked so sick, useless and weak then I go over to help it. I stayed with it for about 2 weeks, then the dragon was happy and hugged me a thank you and goodbye. I was so proud and happy but then I carried on walking to find my way out.

I heard weird and scary singing, there were a bunch of people praying for the devil as I could see with my own eyes but at the back of them were hostages. I make a plan before saving the hostages. I walk back with no glance at the back and “SNAP” the tree breaks. The group stares at me as if I was their prey and off I run. The forest was getting darker and darker as I was running towards the light and “BANG” I trip up. It was a moving tree trying to help me hide but I thanked the tree for helping me. “My name is Diamond” What’s your name? I asked the tree, “My name is Chance and I have been turned into a tree from the Soul Mates” What’s the soul mates? I asked Chance, Well they are a group of people who makes you there slave and turns you into animals or trees if you don’t obey them.

The soulmates are the horror to the trees nightmares.His hands were as big as god trying to keep me.

“You are lucky I saved you” the tree said, I replied with a “thank you now can you put me down” so Chance put me back onto the ground and off I went to start my plan. First of all I had to distract them onto the other side and second, I had to save the hostages. As fast as I could, I saved all the villages but as I tried to leave the soul mates surrounded me and locked me up. “ARGH” I screamed as loud as possible, “HELP ME” but no sound was to be heard besides my echo in the darkness. I wanted to go back home but I couldn’t find a way. The soul mates kept me in there for so long I could barely talk and walk. I needed a drink and food to eat but no one was there to rescue me.

What will happen next? Why are they doing this? I kept asking myself. Then 2 days later the group of hostages helped me out and even a dead ghost cat. I cried because they had helped me but I asked them “Can you help me find a way home” they replied with a “yes we can, follow me” as I followed them they lead me to a secret door called the, hidden Door and it took me back home. I suddenly woke up and I kissed my parents with a “I love use and I am not leaving use anymore” they laughed and replied “Honey it’s only early in the morning” and I found out that it was all a dream.” I wish I never ever will dream like that but at some parts of my dreams, the hostages would always talk to me and keep me company while I sleep”. I had peaceful dreams.
